The GOLO diet has been advertised as a way to lose 30 pounds in 30 days. This may sound appealing, but there are some drawbacks to the plan you should be aware of.

To start, the GOLO diet is different from other weight loss plans in several ways: how it works (and why), and why I’m not a fan.

What is the GOLO diet?

If you’re looking to lose weight, you might be tempted by GOLO. This supplement is supposed to help you shed pounds by boosting your metabolism. It even claims that it can help you lose up to two pounds per day!

But before we talk about how GOLO works, let’s talk about what it is and why I’m not a fan.

GOLO is a combination of, vitamins and minerals, said to “help” you lose weight, where you need the supplement to get the benefits of this weight loss system (they claim)

Promises of The GOLO diet

The GOLO diet is the latest in a long line of diets promising to help you lose weight without having to diet or exercise—but it’s not quite as simple as it sounds.

The plan is a healthy weight loss solution, the company claims, with “no calorie counting, no portion control and no hunger.” But this plan also prescribes restrictive calories—and that’s where this plan gets a red flag for me, as it also prescribes restrictive calories that aren’t sustainable over the long term.

In fact, several studies have shown that low-calorie diets can actually make people gain weight over time! That’s because restricting your calories can cause your body to slow down its metabolism in order to conserve energy. This means that even if you’re eating fewer calories than before when following a GOLO-style diet plan, your body will probably burn fewer of those calories because it thinks there isn’t enough food available.

The GOLO diet is the latest in a long line of diets promising to help you lose weight without having to diet or exercise—but it’s not quite as simple as it sounds.

GOLO is not a long-term fat loss solution

The GOLO diet is not a long term sustainable fat loss solution.

It’s costly, it’s restrictive, and the evidence, is slim pickings. In actual fact, the ONE piece of “science” out there was actually paid by GOLO to complete the study but how many of us really read the small print?

So why am I telling you all this? Because I want you to be able to make an informed decision about what you put into your body. It’s YOUR body after all and if you don’t like what you see in the mirror then maybe you need to look at what you are putting into it!

Do I recommend the GOLO diet?

When it comes to weight loss I’m always going to go for the option that you can sustain and not complain – now how many diets have you done where you’ve sustained long term without complaining?

When it comes to fat loss it won’t happen with a 3 month’s supply of fat pills but it does happen with a balance of exercise, and nutrition.

If you want to lose weight and be able to maintain it fat loss pills, concoctions and diet shakes are not it

Grace, patience and HARD work however will get you there over time

Conclusion

When it comes to weight loss, sometimes you just need to be realistic.

The GOLO diet isn’t a magic pill, but it does offer some great suggestions for eating healthier and losing weight (pun intended). If you are looking to lose weight, it’s best to start with slow & steady Eddie. Small changes that you can actually achieve. Eat more fruits and veggies, don’t be afraid to season your veggies trust me you won’t regret it – I don’t mean hot sauce or flooding with butter. When you start to put in these small actionable steps believe me you’ll reap the benefits.
